This photo was taken at Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis, an actual beautiful waterfall that is fed by Minnehaha Creek. This area was a legendary sacred place for the Native Americans and the legend of Hiawatha and his beloved Minnehaha was immortalized by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in his poem The Song of Hiawatha.

Many tourists came from all around the country and world to the area in the early 20th century (and even in the 19th century).

There is a replica of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's home at this location.

It is wonderful, so if you visit Minneapolis, be sure to go there.

My husband and I were married there in the middle of winter upon a blanket of pristine white snow and a crisp blue sky and temperature of 12 degrees Fahrenheit. We took our vows in front of the statute of Hiawatha carrying Minnehaha in his arms.

The statue was created by donations of pennies from the school children of Minneapolis back in the early 1900s and then carried to the Falls in a parade with the school children.
